Malcolm Long AM LLB FAICD
Non-Executive Director, BAI Communications
With an extensive background in top management roles in broadcasting, Malcolm Long has headed up his own Sydney-based media and communications consultancy and served on a range of boards in commercial, public and community sectors.
Before leading SBS as Managing Director for five years, Malcolm worked for the ABC in senior posts as Deputy Managing Director and Director of Radio. Following his time with Australia’s national broadcasters, he had a five-year appointment at the Australian Film Television and Radio School as Executive Director.
Malcolm’s board appointments include Director of the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group for seven years and director of the subscription television channel producer Pan TV. He has been a member of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), before that, the Australian Broadcasting Authority and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Australian Centre for Broadband Innovation.
Malcolm’s other board roles have included President of the Australian Museum, Chairman the National Institute of Dramatic Art and Chairman of the London-based International Institute of Communications. He is currently a Director of the Sydney Youth Orchestra. Malcolm joined the BAI Communications board in 2011.
