BAI Communications Australia is shaping the future of broadcast, shared infrastructure and wireless communications technology. We are creating an inspiring blueprint that will challenge traditional thinking, harness innovation, facilitate collaboration and ignite new opportunities to improve connectivity for communities and underpin Australia’s digital economy.

In Australia, BAI operates one of the most extensive broadcast networks in the world across 752 sites. We provide 1,985 fully managed television and radio transmission services, delivering 127 million broadcasting hours to 99% of the population.

Decades-long partnerships with national public broadcasters, ABC and SBS, have seen BAI manage the Australian transition from analogue to digital television. Throughout that transition, we collaborated with the broadcast industry to provide spectrum-planning advice to the Australian Communications and Media Authority. Today, we are applying our expertise to advance the broadcast and telecommunications networks of the future; for example, bringing the first 4K television broadcasting trials to Australia. We also work in partnership with commercial broadcasters Southern Cross Austereo and WIN.

In times of crisis, such as natural disasters, national broadcasters rely on BAI to maintain their connection with Australians, and emergency services trust us to keep them connected, informed and safe. In New South Wales (NSW), we operate and maintain the government’s Public Safety Network for the NSW Telco Authority, managing over 300 sites across NSW to facilitate communication among emergency services and transport, energy, and environment service providers.

Our telecommunications offering includes distributed antenna systems, small cells, and macro cells. We also design, build, and operate public, private wireless and smart precincts solutions. BAI itself owns over 400 towers across the country. Through our tower network, utilising our engineering, delivery, and operational capabilities, we provide neutral host and fibre co-location services for mobile network operators (MNOs), service providers, enterprises, and public sector customers.

This extensive footprint presents significant opportunities for our customers, amplifying their reach, enhancing their services, and accelerating their networks. These solutions are a priority growth area, and our carrier licence is key to delivering seamless end-to-end fully managed or neutral host services.

Whether it’s bringing together the right network of partnerships or working as part of a dedicated team to deliver shared outcomes, our people are relentless in helping our customers rethink commercial and delivery models – creating synergies across multiple use cases and technologies. To every challenge, we bring decades of expertise, and a willingness to do things differently. We’re here for the long term to grow and scale with our customers to advance connectivity across Australia
