Leading global communications infrastructure provider BAI Communications (BAI) has today announced the appointment of Steve Pusey to the position of Chair of its Board. A long-standing industry leader, Mr Pusey brings over three decades of experience working with, and leading, technology businesses across the world.

Previously, Mr Pusey served as the Group Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone, the world’s second largest telecommunications company at the time, a role he held until 2015. In this leadership position, he played a pivotal role in defining and leading Vodafone Group’s technology strategy for networks and IT operations globally, taking the company to a leading role in the network space across its active markets.

Through his current work as a board member and advisor, Mr Pusey has worked with some of the world’s biggest and most innovative technology businesses including ARM, Centrica, FireEye and GlobalLogic, among others. In these roles, he has helped lead organisational transformation, define strategies that unlock and amplify significant commercial growth and provided leadership and counsel on global expansion programmes.

Joining the BAI Board of Directors as Chair, Mr Pusey will be providing strategic leadership and advisory input for the business as it continues its upward trajectory and growth. This will include providing support and counsel to the BAI leadership team as it continues to expand its global footprint, deepen its customer relationships and grow its product offering across connected infrastructure, following a period of hyper-growth over the last 12 months through substantial acquisitions and conversion of important customer contracts.

“Steve Pusey is one of the most accomplished people in our industry. Throughout his time at Vodafone, his leadership, relationships, and deep capability in growing technology businesses delivered phenomenal performance and results for the business. We are extremely proud and fortunate to have him join our Board of Directors as Chair, particularly at such an exciting time for the BAI business as we continue to build growth momentum. His knowledge, experience and support for the business, and our leadership team, will be invaluable as we continue to work to enhance our value proposition to our customers especially the mobile network operators,” said BAI Group CEO, Igor Leprince.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Pusey said, “It is fantastic to be joining the BAI Board and I’m very much looking forward to getting involved in the business. BAI is an extremely exciting organisation in a space that is on the cusp of huge expansion as the connected infrastructure and smart city agenda continue to draw the attention and prioritisation of cities and businesses around the world. I am very much looking forward to being part of the journey and helping to ensure BAI’s leadership in this space continues to grow globally.”

CPP Investments’ Senior Managing Director, Europe Regional Head and Head of Direct Private Equity as well as non-executive director on the BAI Board of Directors, Max Biagosch, said “We warmly welcome Steve as Chair of the BAI Board of Directors. His track record and extensive industry experience will provide great strategic leadership to the BAI team as it continues to deliver against its ambitious growth strategy.”

Mr Pusey assumes his role as Chair at the end of March, taking over from non-executive director, Bart Vogel, who was acting as the interim Chair since late January 2022.
