The Australian British Infrastructure Catalyst (ABIC) is designed to facilitate and promote the exchange of ideas and experience in major infrastructure projects in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Presented by the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, participants in the programme are limited to industry leaders from Australia and the UK including infrastructure experts, financiers, government representatives, and major project proponents.

This year’s Catalyst was held in Sydney between 9th – 11th October 2018, with BAI Communications (BAI) proudly sponsoring the event.

BAI Chairman Deena Shiff presented in the Communications & Cyber Physical Systems Panel Discussion focusing on how we can benefit from ‘smart’ network connectivity.

Deena’s presentation concentrated on Machine to Machine (M2M), the Internet of Things (IoT) and the introduction of 5G in Australia and why this is important for infrastructure, particularly for Healthcare and Public Transport.

BAI Communications Group Chief Executive Officer Jim Hassell presented in the Integrated Transport Panel Discussion focusing on the role BAI’s network can play as the enabler for the creation of better connected, smart cities.

Jim’s presentation illustrated how BAI has successfully delivered high capacity cellular, Wi-Fi, and fibre optic infrastructure throughout some of the busiest subway networks in the world, including New York (Transit Wireless), Toronto and Hong Kong. Jim also spoke about the ability for these cities to harness this infrastructure for solutions such as IoT, data analytics and machine learning.
