Today, I’m excited to announce two new additions to the BAI Communications team – Andrew Conway joins as our new Director of Engineering, while Roberta de Lima is leading our European marketing initiatives as Marketing Communications Manager.
Andrew brings a wealth of experience to the role, having spent the last eight years leading network design at O2, delivering outcomes such as the Olympics network solution, network sharing and the launch of 4G. He has also worked at Nokia, a global technology leader serving the mobile network operator market, and Cable & Wireless, and is a visiting professor at the University of Surrey.
This is a pivotal appointment for BAI Communications, building on an already formidable technology department with Andrew’s first class engineering skills and industry knowledge.
From the wide-open spaces of Australia to the tunnels of underground rail, we regularly encounter some of the toughest technological challenges, be that installation of network equipment in busy and confined spaces or the challenges of integrating cutting-edge technology with legacy infrastructure. Continuing to acquire top tech talent is key for our business as we specialise in providing high quality communications in these complex, hostile environments.
Further to Andrew’s appointment, we’ve also been strengthening our team across the business. Roberta de Lima is a key addition to our team, leading marketing communications for the UK and Europe. Roberta is a B2B marketer with 15 years’ experience working for technology companies including Nokia, Telecom Italia and Michelin. Her marketing expertise, will help establish BAI Communications’ brand, awareness and credentials, as the company expands in the UK and Europe.

Andrew and Roberta join us at a critical time as we believe the UK is ripe for a new era of communications innovation on our transport networks. The Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy states that London needs to make the most of new technologies, while also calling for the provision of mobile phone access underground and ubiquitous connectivity throughout the UK’s rail networks. Commuters want to experience the same services on their commute as they do everywhere else, whether at work, at home or on the move.
With a multitude of unique challenges associated with the provision of these services – as well as a whole host of new opportunities arising out of innovations like the Internet of Things and 5G – Andrew and Roberta will be central to the continuing success of the BAI Communications business.
