Enabling Southern Cross Austereo to focus on content, not infrastructure

A customer case study on television and radio migration to a neutral host network across Australia

Background

With years of experience and the continent’s largest team of trusted engineers and technicians, BAI Communications (BAI) migrated more than 500 television and radio services from Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) to its neutrally hosted broadcast transmission network without any disruptions to audiences. BAI was selected through a detailed negotiation process to be the trusted provider of SCA’s broadcast transmission network, given our design, engineering and operational skills, and our best-practice methodologies – delivering 126 million broadcast hours every year to 99% of the Australian population.

"Outsourcing was a logical step for SCA, consistent with the group’s strategy of delivering content and media platforms and moving away from asset intensive activities that can be delivered by specialist service providers. Through our partnership with BAI, SCA has created a streamlined and efficient service that minimises the cost of delivery of broadcast radio and television to SCA’s licence areas. "
