Solutions

Services - our service, at your service

As broadcast network specialists, we must deliver across all touch-points, both analogue and digital, at all times and in all conditions.

That’s why we continually invest in people, network, and technology to deliver exceptional, resilient, and effective services.

Thanks to our network and support, Australia’s public broadcasters, ABC and SBS, as well as commercial broadcasters such as Southern Cross Austereo, can provide seamless transmission to their audiences.

And rather than putting the onus on our customers, we own or operate all the infrastructure, helping reduce risk and cost. These managed transmission services are backed by a Service Level Agreement (SLA), set against agreed technical performance standards, service availability levels and monitored 24/7 by our Service Management Centre (SMC).

Managed transmission services - on budget, on time, on air

Your needs are not the same as anyone else’s. And that’s why we go to great lengths to offer tailored solutions to each and every one.

To do this, we work closely with you to develop a deeper understanding of your business and what you need from a network. Then we begin advanced planning, network design, and defining stringent SLAs.

Nothing is left to chance and everything is totally transparent at each stage of the process.

At the end of the day, we believe our most important offering is confidence.

Our bespoke solutions, expertise, and project management have enabled us to deliver solutions on time and on budget since 1929.

Sharing is the way forward

Broadcasting is an expensive business. That’s why we have designed portal services to reduce overheads for broadcasters through shared broadcast infrastructure, including combiners, tower and transmission buildings, and Radio Frequency (RF) antennae system access.

Our customers can also install and operate their own equipment to deliver TV and radio services while, at the same time, taking advantage of site security, remote monitoring, power and HVAC (cooling system) access.

We also know broadcast networks must deliver on time, every time. There is, quite simply, no room for error. That’s why our engineering core competencies span all aspects of analogue and digital transmission systems including:

• network planning, design and integration

• project management

• construction and commissioning

• network operations, management, and maintenance.

Our expert teams manage and maintain 1,985 services across Australia. In all conditions. It’s part of the job.

During the bushfire crisis, our people worked around the clock alongside emergency services teams to ensure communications networks continued operating and deploying front line mobile assets to maintain coverage.

Distribution platforms

Digital terrestrial television (DTV)

Our high performing network and technical expertise ensures digital terrestrial television (DTV) services are delivered nationally on behalf of ABC, SBS, and commercial broadcasters like Southern Cross Austereo.

Broadcast radio

Being such a vast continent, radio has always played an important role in Australia. Thousands of remote communities rely exclusively on the radio to communicate with the outside world. In an emergency it is, quite literally, a lifeline.

To this end, we operate and maintain AM and FM radio services for public broadcasters ABC and SBS, as well as commercial broadcaster Southern Cross Austereo, across the country. Our AM radio reach is unsurpassed, particularly in regional Australia, while our FM radio services have great audio quality and coverage across metro and regional centres.

Digital audio broadcast (DAB)

We deliver digital audio broadcast (DAB) services to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, and Hobart. DAB provides a high-quality audio experience with increased programming.

Innovative technologies

Our strength in engineering and operational capabilities has kept us at the forefront of broadcast technology and enabled us to achieve remarkable successes, including the first 4k television broadcasting trials to Australia. This is because we are never complacent, and we continue innovating and trialling new broadcasting technology in our usual course of business.

"I feel privileged to be working alongside the BAI Communications team, more so in these times of need when we see how much what we do really matters; but also in what we have achieved to date and what we aim to accomplish over the next few years."
