BAI Canada’s latest project has made cellular service available throughout every station in the Toronto Transit Commission. Now the team is working on expanding that connectivity into the TTC tunnels: it is already operational in tunnels between Bloor Yonge and King Street and on the 9km York-Spadina subway extension.
When speaking to commuters on the TTC recently, we found that many of them didn’t know cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity was there at all or had some misconceptions about how it works. So we decided to separate fact from fiction by explaining how the network functions and how we can all take advantage of this exciting new service.

In Singapore, Wi-Fi data is being used to monitor and improve passenger flow. In Seoul, free Wi-Fi is available across the entire city, streamlining every experience from catching a train to parking a car. Now it’s Toronto’s turn.
The City of Toronto has launched multiple projects that aim to harness the power of cutting-edge technology to better serve its residents, in the quest to become a “smarter city”. These include smart traffic pilot projects that respond to real-time traffic patterns, a mini smart city on the waterfront and the recent completion of a wireless communications network by BAI Canada.
